Joyce It's Andy Moeller's former professor at St. Ambrose University talking. We have two extra days off for Easter and I'm dumping and responding to old emails. I apologize for not getting back to you after my initial contact but hey, here I am.
Anyway, I hope to be able to see your work in person. It's hard to tell what's going on in the paint but I like this image. The preposterousness of the head or headpiece and the relative normalcy of the gesture and body language makes for a strange situation reminiscent of religious ceremonies in which outrageous costume is considered normal after a thousand years of use. I like your work best when its uncommonness seems a thousand years old.
thank you for the comment! I am glad that you got my e-mail. I am hoping that you will get to see my works in person too. My paintings don't really have any texture...but I enjoy the way I paint and I like how "un-painterly" they are :) I agree with your comment, I think I enjoy my images when they reach that effect. Are you coming to the open house in May?
Joyce
